Home buying and selling continues skyrocketing, while prices remain stable

The housing market continues to rise sharply in terms of sales, but remains stable in terms of price growth, according to the statistics of the General Council of Notaries for the month of March 2017. According to these data, in the third Month of the year, 48,695 home transactions were closed, representing a year-on-year increase of 19.5%.

By type of housing, the sale of flats showed a year-on-year increase of 20.5% and that of free-price flats of 21.9%. This increase in free-floor transactions was due exclusively to the expansion of second-hand floor sales (26.0%), as new floor sales fell by 11.5% year-on-year. For its part, the sale of single-family homes showed a 15.6% year-on-year increase.

In terms of average price, the square meter of homes bought in March was 1,277 euros, reflecting a 1.3% year-on-year decrease. This reduction of the square meter of the houses is due to the drop in the price of single-family houses (-6.2%), since the square meter of the floors was not altered in this period (0.0%).

For its part, the square meter of free-price flats increased slightly by 0.3%. Among these, the second-hand price of the square meter was 1,419 (0.8% year-on-year) and new floor prices were 1,711 (-0.6% year-on-year).
