San Juan Night
The end of the school year in schools coincides with the celebration of San Juan. It is a party that they celebrate on the night of June 23 to 24. The tradition has ancient pre-Christian origins and is associated with the happy summer solstice and the arrival of summer. This is the shortest night of the year, so it symbolizes the victory of light over darkness. Symbols: fire, light, sun and water. In the fires that are lit, it burns away all the bad that has accumulated during the year.
The Night of San Juan 2024 will be celebrated in Torrevieja with the traditional bonfires on the beach.
Beaches where bonfires are allowed in Torrevieja:
- Playa de la Mara
- Playa del Cura
- Playa de los Locos
- Playa de los Náufragos
The city administration distributes about 15,000 kilograms of pine wood (which leaves practically no waste) for those who want to light bonfires on each of the city's beaches.
On Monday, June 24, at 01:00 a.m., two bonfires will be lit on San José Street on the corner of Joaquín Chapaprieta Street.
