News: Refurbishment plans for Orihuela bullring
The derelict bullring in Orihuela will be converted into a multiuse venue for recreational activities, as the mayor of Orihuela Emilio Bascuñana announced. This 100 year old building was purchased by the city council in 2006 and is to be converted into a multipurpose space.
The new outdoor space will feature landscaped green areas and will provide much needed space for concerts, exhibitions and all sorts of other cultural activities that will attract residents from neighbouring areas such as Orihuela Costa and Torrevieja.
As the mayor of Orihuela explained, this is a "realistic but ambitious" project which will provide Orihuela with 7,500 square metres of landscaped public land.
The works for the refurbishment of this iconic structure are expected to take approximately seven months to be completed and will cost around 400,000€. The project has been designed by local architect Rafael Legidos.
