News: Torrevieja May Fair to take place in October

The popular "Sevillanas" Fair which is normally celebrated every May in Torrevieja will be taking place October 9th to October 15th as reported at a press conference by the Councilor of Festivities, Domingo Pérez.

The main reason for this appears to be the lack of time to get the contract paperwork ready for the May celebrations. After having taken into account other factors such as avoiding the summer months and the high temperatures in September, the week of the El Pilar bank holidays has finally been chosen.

According to the councilor, both the fair-goers and the local House of Andalusia have agreed to the October dates. Domingo Pérez also said the Fair wil be "a good epilogue for the summer season". Nevertheless, the local government intends to go back to the May dates in 2018.

The Torrevieja May Fair is a lively event packed with great shows, including horse parades and flamenco dancing, firework displays and the opportunity to try the best traditional foods in a typical Andalusian atmosphere. Located beside the new marina, entrance to the Fair is free.
