Tips for renting apartment safely in Spain

Renting an apartment on the beach in Spain to spend a vacation, enjoying the most intimacy and comfort, is a trend that has grown a lot in recent years.

Renting an apartment in summer is one of the options that many people choose to spend the holidays. However, on some occasions they may encounter very different problems ranging from issues related to the way of payment of rent to extras not included in the price or bad uses of the home.

It is therefore recommended that you follow these tips that we give you in this article:

1. Collect as much information as possible about the apartment you want to rent.

When renting, it is important to ask for photographs and examine the reliability of the owner. Ideally, you can visit the property before or at the very least, contact the owner or agent directly. Whether or not it is possible, it is advisable to seek opinions on the Internet about that property and its owners since the users are the ones who will offer a more objective vision.

2. Beware of scams.

You should be wary of those ads with pictures of spectacular homes at ridiculous prices. It is important to know the average price of the area to know if the product offered can become a scam. Another symptom of suspicion are the owners with whom it is never possible to contact by telephone or who refuse to provide a landline.

3. Secure a secure payment method and conditions.

Some methods of payment are safer than others. It is preferable to pay with card or transfer, since the banks can revoke the operation until a few days after having done it in case of discovering irregularities. Be wary of direct money delivery services. It is also advisable to verify that the owner of the account in which the money is entered and the owner of the property are the same person.

4. Paying a signal is fine, as long as it is reasonable.

The obligatoriness to give a payment and signal to reserve the accommodation is a good symptom to make sure that no one else will be able to rent that house in the agreed dates, however, this payment should not suppose more of a 20% or 30% on the price Total rent.

5. Agree beforehand any practical questions that you think are necessary.

To avoid unforeseen and misunderstanding it is important to detail in advance how the keys will be handed over or to agree on the conditions of prior and subsequent cleaning of the property. In addition, detailed information on the total cost of the rental should be clarified in aspects such as cleaning of the accommodation, parking or the cost of supplies that can be made during the rental period.

6. Things to do before signing the contract.

Prior to formalizing the rental contract it is essential to visit the accommodation and check the operation of electrical appliances and appliances as well as detect if there is any break in the furniture or breakdown. Any anomaly must be included in the contract to be a record of the state in which the property was entered. Also, it is important to ask the owner for a contact telephone number in order to be able to locate him in case of any setback or breakdown.
